The PlayStation VR 2 is all set to release towards the end of this month on February 22, 2023. The VR headset is going to be the next-generation upgrade for the VR gaming industry. We already know that the device will come with higher visual fidelity, enhanced sensory features, tracking and more.
In recent news, it seems that an upcoming title will take advantage of the device’s high specs. Pavlov VR, a game that will release alongside PSVR 2, seems to be working faster on the device when compared to PC VR. This news was spotted by Flat2VR on Twitter, a community of modders.
In the tweet, the account has posted an image of a Discord chat, with the caption reading that they aren’t sure about the accuracy of the text in the image regarding other developers, but Pavlov devs have mentioned that their title works faster on the PSVR 2 compared to a PC VR with 3090Ti setup.
Through the image, we see a Discord chat wherein a user called davevillz or David Villareal, one of the members on the team, states that Pavlov is 10% above in PSVR 2 than PCVR. They add that the reason for this is that PSVR 2 is a console and the rendering on that is more efficient. Further down in the chat, the user confirms that this comparison was against a PC with 3090Ti.
Not sure how accurate this is for other developers, but the Pavlov dev mentioned that for their own game, the PSVR2 is 10% faster than even their 3090TI setup. 👀
If true, it’s exciting that kinda power could be in the hands of so many people for official flat to VR ports. pic.twitter.com/1uTiKbnzfY
