I.G.I Origins, the prequel to the hit 2000 shooter title, Project I.G.I has received a new gameplay trailer. The trailer with the title “The World of I.G.I Origins“, features new pre-alpha gameplay footage from developers Antimatter Games. It shows some exciting moments that fans might soon get to try in the upcoming title.
The teaser trailer starts off with the developers at Antimatter Games expressing their gratitude towards the support they received from the community following the release of the gameplay reveal earlier this year. Soon enough, we see glimpses of some of the environments that players will be able to experience.
It’s been around 20 years since the release of the last title in the I.G.I series. Following the launch of I.G.I.-2: Covert Strike, fans have been begging to see the return of the stealth FPS franchise, and I.G.I Origins seems like the title that will satisfy their needs.
The prequel will be set during the Cold War, and players will be required to “Infiltrate a volatile and manipulative world of high-stakes espionage,” as they attempt to stop an enemy hell-bent on starting all-out nuclear warfare.
The new trailer also showcases some of the gunplay mechanics that players will receive in I.G.I Origins. Furthermore, we also get a taste of how the stealth-based action will come into play. The gameplay will revolve around traversing environments undetected from the enemies around. And even though the title requires your best when it comes to sneaking around, the trailer points towards some explosive fun as well.
As mentioned in a previous blog post, the developers at Antimatter Games are using Unreal Engine 5 to bring the project to life. At the time of writing, the developers haven’t revealed any release window for the game.
