The Command & Conquer Remastered Collection Joins EA Play Today

Earlier this year, the first two Command & Conquer games got a pretty sizeable remaster. If you didn’t catch it then and happen to have EA Play, well, you’ve got another chance to do so now.

Electronic Arts announced today that the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection has joined the library of games for EA Play owners on PC. EA Play is the rebranded service that offers free access to select Electronic Arts games for subscribers, as well as discounts and early trials of new games.

The Command & Conquer Remastered Collection contains both the original Command & Conquer and Red Alert, as well as three expansion packs, multiplayer, a bevy of archival footage and trivia, a remastered soundtrack, and modernized game options. There’s even a Map Editor and mod support, so you can find all new ways to tank rush and sneak spies into enemy territory.

My takeaway from the Remastered Collection earlier this year was that it’s a love letter to decades of Command & Conquer history. It might be one of the best remasters I’ve ever seen just due to the amount of uncovered information and adherence to the core of these games; it was pretty cool to flip between the old and new graphics, and the hours of footage uncovered is fascinating to dig through.

This prospect is all the more interesting for Xbox Game Pass owners as well. Though EA Play has come to the console version of Xbox Game Pass, it was recently confirmed that the PC side would have to wait until 2021 to get access to the EA vault. It may be a bit of a wait, but this is certainly a good reason to be patient and wait for the two companies’ subscription services to overlap.
