After months of delays and waiting, the first reactions for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are finally out, and there’s tons of positives for Marvel Studios to be proud about.
One of the biggest upside of the movie has to revolve around the fact that Sam Raimi directed the movie. After helming the original Spider-Man trilogy, Raimi returned to directing superhero movies by joining the MCU with the Doctor Strange sequel, and many believed that he knocked it out of the park.
When I heard #DoctorStrange in the #MultiverseOfMadness was the MCU’s first horror movie, I had my doubts, even with Sam Raimi at the helm. But damn! Much like Drag Me to Hell, this is a horror movie that just barely gets away with its PG-13 rating! pic.twitter.com/HKEZagUQnJ

Just got out of #DoctorStrange #MultiverseOfMadness and it was SICK. For anyone scared this was just going to be a non-stop cameo fest devoid of substance and more of an “event” than a “movie,” quell your fears. Sam Raimi made a Sam Rami-ass movie, for better or worse. pic.twitter.com/rI8RpKzO2L

Absolutely in love with what I just saw. Raimi is truly all over it, and the horror elements are something special, but it’s so fast as brutal and FUN. Did not feel like anything I’ve watched in the MCU before. Cumberbatch and Olsen are 🐐. #DoctorStrange #MultiverseOfMadness pic.twitter.com/opTR7Zpz54

Wow, leave it up to Sam Raimi to make one messy, clunky, scary, gnarly, batshit insane movie. #DoctorStrange Multiverse of Madness does not care, it just GOES for it. First half is not great, one cameo made me scream, but then the second half (visuals+score) just absolutely RIPS! pic.twitter.com/9NFxpL1EMa

Many fans who got the opportunity to view the movie have stated that Raimi has brought out his experience of working with horror movies into the MCU by pushing the PG-13 to its limit. It’s dark, brutal with a lot of shaky cams, first-person POVs, and jump scares, which makes the movie a one-of-a-kind experience in the MCU. To top it off, Danny Elfman has also upped his game by creating a surreal score for it as well.
DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS is an absolute rollercoaster ride filled to the brim with truly incredible performances, marvelous visual spectacle, wacky adventure, & Sam Raimi’s signature horror idiosyncrasies. You won’t want to miss this! #DoctorStrange pic.twitter.com/4eFsuqLh2I

Just watched #MultiverseOfMadness and it’s a Sam Raimi film through and through. It features some of the most brutal and violent moments we’ve seen in the MCU. The darker elements are blended with silly humor and snippets of horror. It’s a BLAST. #DoctorStrange #MarvelStudios pic.twitter.com/JFScZyahOQ

Doctor Strange In the #MultiverseOfMadness takes Marvel in a darker, stranger new direction. This grudge match between #DoctorStrange and Wanda is entertaining throughout especially when Sam Raimi ramps up the horror elements. It is surprisingly gory, creepy & full of surprises. pic.twitter.com/b9ms19Losd

In the acting department, it’s Elizabeth Olsen, who steals the show as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch following her turn in WandaVision, and other than that, viewers have also appreciated the performance from Benedict Cumberbatch for his role as Doctor Strange.
#DoctorStrange #MultiverseOfMadness is a Sam Raimi movie in and out… horrific, brutal, shocking, & even scary at times. The film builds on each minute it gives & never lets up even at the very end. Elizabeth Olsen is even better than she was in WANDAVISION. pic.twitter.com/Z8jDkcrKGO

#DoctorStrange in the Multiverse of Madness should be called the Multiverse of Maximoff as Elizabeth Olsen completely steals the show. And Sam Raimi’s leaves his mark as he skillfully blends heroes and horror.

However, there were some downsides, which mainly involved the movie’s shabby script. But, many have noted that Sam Raimi’s direction and Elizabeth Olsen’s performance will help fans to overlook it by providing them with an MCU viewing unlike no other.
